This was me until I turned 21. All my prime school and college years, I never cared about physical fitness...Never stepped into a gym ...never heard of aerobic workout...never thought marathoning was in my destiny... Sports day?? Of course....did look forward to it...just so I would get a day off...so did many of my friends...our lives were busy as it is...didn't have the time/energy to think beyond books, exams, tuitions etc.(now I know those were just excuses)..and once in a while when we did...my heart went after icecream parlors, movies...birthday treats and of course a good sleep...Counting calories?? never did!!...No regrets !! But yes...sports/exercise had no place in my life whatsoever...So what changed?? certainly my perception ...where did it come from?? Well..I'm not sure...I did not have a compelling reason to get on to exercising...My introduction to the world of fitness was during my corporate days...Was it the access to an amazing gym at the workplace?.. or the fact that I had too much time after work and on weekends? or the guilty feeling that would creep in when I see my colleagues working their ass out at the gym while I walk past after downing some evening snacks at the cafe?? Whatever be it...I'm so glad I cared to step into it myself one fine day.Treadmill was my first friend..It was an amazing feeling to see my potential and endurance grow week after week..I started off running 10 minutes..and gradually I went on to run 5 K and 10 K..Wow.. a great feeling..Another thing I cherish is my favorite aerobic classes ..I miss those workouts big time...There is a lot more creativity and fun in the dance style aerobics..To me , they win over spinning and bootcamps hands down.. And the best part being the company of my roomies for that extra little motivation to wake up in the wee hours of the morning..Although there wasn't anything in particular I was looking for out of these workouts, I did notice that my energy level soared ..my skin was getting clearer (better blood circulation apparently), my posture was getting better(Someone commented that I looked taller. :))..so I figured it was really worth it after all.
Since then..I have discovered a mini athlete in me...developed a passion for fitness ..and more so ..decided on a potential alternate career ;)
